As we start the new year of 2024, we all have our hopes and wishes and even our plans on how to make this coming year a happy and successful one for you and me.
At the same time we also have our worries, for always there are uncertainties, that we do not know what this year will bring us.
Take courage and inspiration from the Lord today.
To Nathanael He said, “I know you, even before we met, I saw you under the fig tree.”
Yes, God knows us, He knows our hearts and our needs and our fears and worries.
It is wonderful and reassuring to be reminded, that we have a God who is our savior and who is with us and who will never fail us or abandon us.
All He is asking us, as He said to Nathanael. “FOLLOW ME.”
Follow my way this year and always,
Today is the day of the Sacred Heart. Jesus is telling us also follow my Heart.
A heart that is loving and caring specially for others
This is what the first reading reminds us.
A heart that is not tainted with anger, hatred, envy and resentment.
Be at peace with others and learn to forgive.
Otherwise, our travel this year will be heavy.
Follow me, follow my heart, Jesus is telling us
A heart that is sincere and honest
Just like Nathanael, a true Israelite who has no guile, duplicity in him.
Follow the Lord and stay close with him and this year will be better for us.
Lastly, we all have plans. In all things we do and want to achieve in life, Do not forget, our real destination should be, to be with God, at the end of time in heaven.
May the Lord guide us , stay with as we start the new together with our loved ones, amen
